I Got A Compliment This Morning

Yup.  It isn't even 9:00 a.m. and I have been complimented by Rainman.

But, first, let me walk you through my day, so far, to put everything into context.

I was awoken this morning at about 6:45 by being patted awkwardly on the leg by D-man.

"I have to be to work by 7:00", he said.

I said, "What day is it?"

I literally said that to him.

He said, "It's Thursday, mom.  Remember...work."

So, I stumbled out of bed - I should say I arose with a clatter - or something Christmas-y shouldn't I.

Got him to work by 7:00.

Came home.  Had a cup of coffee.  Got A-girl to school by 8:00.

Looked with.....hmmm.....disgust....chagrin.....dread...at the pile of pots and pans and all of that kitchen stuff that was spread all around the kitchen.

Then, A-man got up and realized that nobody had started the dishwasher last night either, so there were no clean bowls for breakfast.

He and I finished shoving stuff into the magic machine and got it started.  I had also just gotten the text that the little boy I babysit was going to be coming later than expected, so, I decided that I would at least get some of those pots and pans soaking.  So, I squirted in some soap, set the water to its hottest, wiped down a few things while I waited for the sink to finish filling, heated myself up another cup of coffee (because I had forgotten about the last one I heated up - Alex!).  When it was full, I turned the water off and went and sat at the computer to read Facebook.

Rainman emerged from our room about 8:40, walked into the kitchen, exclaimed, "There are no bowls!"  Then, "Wait!  I just saw one somewhere...." and went out to our porch and brought in a bowl that had hardened Ramen noodles sitting there from....hopefully..... lunch yesterday....not last week.

He then proceeded to walk over to the sink that had my soapy water waiting for the mountain of pots and pans.  He stopped.  Turned to me and said, "Did you do this?"

I reluctantly said with a suspicious tone in my voice, "Yeeeeeessss."

He said....wait for it.....compliment coming.....

"Good job.  You are usually really skimpy on the suds.  Good job, babe!"  All said, with a big, sincere, smile.   Two "good jobs" and a "babe" before 9:00 a.m.!

This is my life.

Good thing it makes me laugh.
